Our history

Dom Gonçalo Hotel & Spa began in 1965 as a small café, born from the dream of José Heleno and Maria Emília Testa. Today, under the direction of their son Jorge Heleno, the hotel continues to offer warm hospitality in Fátima, while the third generation is already beginning to leave its mark, ensuring that this story of dedication, creativity and family spirit continues to grow. The name pays tribute to the knight Gonçalo Hermingues, known as Traga-Mouros, who in the 12th century married the Moorish woman Fátima, later converted to Catholicism.

The Minimercado Zeca is founded by José Heleno and Maria Emília Testa, a small family business that would give rise to a story of dedication and hospitality in Fátima.

From the success of the minimarket came Café Restaurante Zeca, a meeting point for locals and visitors.

The restaurant expanded with two large dining rooms and opened Pensão Zeca, with 12 rooms, welcoming its first guests.

The hotel is officially renamed Dom Gonçalo Hotel & Spa, featuring a modern spa and indoor swimming pool, while maintaining its four-star classification.

I recently visited Dom Gonçalo Hotel Restaurant & Spa. We were very well received, with staff who were extremely friendly and polite. It was a pleasure to enjoy lunch with friends again; the meal was excellent and the dessert divine. I really enjoyed the lunch.

Very good, clean. Breakfast was wonderful. Pleasant staff. The only note is that swimming caps are required for the pool. I will stay here again. The rooms were very comfortable. The bathroom is huge and comfortable. The TV is a little far from the bed. Fabulous hotel, very happy we stayed here.
