Founded in 1965 by José Heleno and Maria Emília Testa, Dom Gonçalo Hotel & Spa began as a small café and grocery. It evolved into a renowned restaurant, guesthouse, and now a boutique hotel. Led by their son Jorge Heleno, it is known for warm, personalized service and stands among Fátima’s most respected hotels.
The name honors the 12th-century knight Gonçalo Hermingues, “Traga-Mouros,” who married a Moorish woman named Fátima, later converted to Christianity.
Opening of Zeca Minimarket.
Third expansion of the unit: construction of new Restaurant with Bar and covered garages. Launch of the restaurant brand "O Convite".
Commercial title changes to "Estalagem - similar to the spanish Parador - Dom Gonçalo" with four stars.
Second expansion of the unit. Reformulation of a room in a bar and enlargement of the kitchen and other spaces.
Opening of Café Zeca Restaurant
Extension of the restaurant. Opening of Pension Zeca? With 12 rooms.
Fourth extension: construction of the new restaurant, garage park, car park and more 41 rooms, as well as the creation of the SPA with indoor pool. Commercial title changed to "Dom Gonçalo Hotel & Spa" (maintaining the four stars).
Refurbishment of the Lobby, Reception area and Classic Wing Guest Rooms.
New renovations of the Classic Rooms with new furniture and equipment.
Acquisition of the Urban Fitness Outdoor Park.
Acquisition of more equipment and refurbishment of the playground.
Creation of a vegetable and aromatic herb garden.
