At Hotel Dom Gonçalo & SPA, in Fátima, we embrace a genuine commitment to sustainability and accessibility. We strive to combine comfort and hospitality with respect for the environment and for people, promoting responsible practices that support the local community and ensure a welcoming stay for all.
To this end, we have implemented the following environmental and social good practices:
- Organic vegetable garden with vegetables and aromatic herbs to supply the restaurant;
- Solar panels for water heating and double-glazed windows in the rooms;
- Selective waste separation;
- Electronic key cards that automatically switch off lighting when leaving the room;
- Presence sensors for lighting control;
- Use of recycled paper for all office and stationery materials;
- Intelligent and energy-efficient air conditioning system;
- High energy-efficiency boiler for water and space heating;
- Automatic irrigation system in the gardens;
- Planting of natural flowers for hotel decoration;
- Preference for raw materials, equipment and services purchased from local suppliers.
Reduced mobility
Hotel Dom Gonçalo & SPA offers several facilities for guests with reduced mobility, both outside and inside the building.
Exterior:
- Reserved parking space next to the main entrance.
- Access to the hotel via two gently sloping ramps in traditional Portuguese stone paving.
- Access to the O Convite restaurant also via ramp.
- Free parking in the garage, with a flat surface and direct access to the lift serving floor 0 and the upper floors of the Design wing.
Interior:
- Circulation is simple, thanks to wide corridors and spacious common areas.
- The Design wing includes one adapted room, accessible by lift and with corridors suitable for wheelchair use.
Floor 0
- Reception, bar, restaurant, lounge, children’s room and three meeting rooms, all with easy and direct access.
- Two adapted bathrooms next to the restaurant. The ladies’ bathroom offers better conditions: doors of 74 cm and 84 cm, grab rails, adjustable washbasin, accessible tap, baby changing table and alarm system.
Floors 1, 2 and 3
- Access by lift (cabin 89 cm wide, suitable for wheelchair circulation).
- One of the meeting rooms has level access and exit to the terrace (small step of 4.5 cm, smooth deck flooring).
- The garden is partially accessible; the children’s playground is located in the same area.
Floor -1
- Access via the exterior entrance, through a ramp with Portuguese stone paving. Small level difference of 3 cm at the entrance.
- The entire interior area is level, allowing access to the gym and indoor swimming pool.
- Access to the pool requires assistance from third parties, as entry is via steps.
Adapted room
Located on the first floor, it includes:
- Doors suitable for wheelchair circulation;
- Manoeuvring space in the bedroom and bathroom;
- Toilet with side grab bars;
- Level-access shower with removable chair;
- Alarm system at two points.
